Proverbs 4:11-14
11 I have directed you in the way of wisdom;
I have led you in upright paths.
12 When you walk, your steps will not be impeded;
And if you run, you will not stumble.
13 Take hold of instruction; do not let go
Guard her, for she is your life.
14 Do not enter the path of the wicked
And do not proceed in the way of evil men.
11 I have directed you in the way of wisdom;
I have led you in upright paths.
12 When you walk, your steps will not be impeded;
And if you run, you will not stumble.
13 Take hold of instruction; do not let go
Guard her, for she is your life.
14 Do not enter the path of the wicked
And do not proceed in the way of evil men.
We have been celebrating many victories with Wesley Grant and some have asked about some specific things we do in our house to teach him. One thing i have really found, as i have prayed specifically for Wesley Grant and what his needs are, is to teach him wisdom. All of the things we are teaching him...to obey, trust, share, love others, ect...are wise things. As i've read in the proverbs for help in training Wesley Grant, "train him to be a wise boy", has continually been laid on my heart...so, thus the "race to wisdom" was created from an idea a mentor gave me. When Wesley Grant displays any of the characteristics on his race track, he gets to place that car on the track. Once he gets all of them on the track, he gets ICE CREAM! Sometimes it takes him a week, and sometimes a month.
This has really helped both he and I. I can see what things that week he is struggling with, especially looking at the last car that is up there and that helps me know how to pray for him and to train him more that day or week. The race to wisdom has really become a part of our whole family...training all of us to be wise!
This isn't perfect, nor eliminate unwise behavior...it just keeps us tracking towards wisdom.
